Hotel history

In the 1920s, the excursion restaurant Etablissement ALBRECHT was built among the vineyards of Bratislava to a design by Alexander Feigler. From its very beginnings it won people over not only with its pleasant setting, but also with the remarkable selection of wines from the renowned winemaking Albrecht family. The gardens and surrounding vineyards created an atmosphere that naturally destined the villa to become a place of rest, encounters and pleasant moments.

Historically, the hotel was sought after above all for the high level of gastronomy offered by its restaurant. In the 1980s an educational centre was established on its premises. After several turbulent periods and years during which the building fell into a poor state, it underwent an extensive reconstruction in 2008. That is when Albrecht took on the form it still builds on today, with only a few later modifications.

In the years that followed, the hotel changed owners and operators several times. The exceptional quality of the reconstruction was confirmed by the CE.ZA.AR 2009 award in the Interior category, granted by the Slovak Chamber of Architects. The design was the work of Iľja Skoček Jr., Igor Čierny, Peter Kožuško and Martin Skoček. The result was a noble five-star hotel with a distinctive atmosphere, in which luxury blended naturally with the rawness of concrete ceilings, bricks and wooden beams – an architecture of unmistakable character.

The hotel wing was temporarily closed from 2021. Today Hotel & Restaurant Albrecht works once again as a single harmonious whole, offering twelve rooms based on the original layout of the historic building. Thanks to its past and its status as a National Cultural Monument, Albrecht is a place where history remains a natural part of the atmosphere.

It stands in a quiet residential and diplomatic quarter on Mudroňova Street, just a short distance from Bratislava Castle. It thus combines two advantages that rarely meet in the city – the proximity of the historic centre and a peaceful setting hidden in greenery, away from the everyday bustle of the city.
